Phase 3 the school closed but the work of the two social enterprises continued
The outcome of the above-outlined history has left the area with two social enterprises, the school building and grounds, the school-house and gardens, an active group of volunteers and supporters, a network of contacts, and an amount of educational activities taking place on a regular and planned basis. Put another way, the community continues to have legal entities, physical assets, and social capital. What it manages to achieve with these is very much the on-going challenge for the two social enterprises involved – the Lowick Educational Trust and Community Learning Lowick. Together these two enterprises are described as the ‘Lowick Social Enterprise Cluster’.
