Growing Well

Introduction

Growing Well was founded as a social enterprise in 2003 with the aim of helping people recovering from mental health problems to become ‘work ready’ in a supported workplace providing a therapeutic environment that focuses on horticulture.  The company is based at Low Sizergh Farm in the South Lakes.  For more information about Growing Well see www.growingwell.co.uk

Growing Well offers volunteering opportunities throughout the running of its operations.  Building their confidence and skills enables participants to move on to employment.  Growing Well grows and sells organic produce, provides accredited training in horticulture, and runs an educational programme aimed at increasing the connections between local school children and their food.   Volunteers complete a simple application form and references are sought. There have been 45 volunteer placements between.
