Supporting Social Enterprise in Rural Cumbria

Welcome to Enterprising Communities Website

A project of Voluntary Action Cumbria

Enterprising Communities will finish on Friday 31st March 2006.

It has been our great pleasure to work with so many different existing and emerging social enterprise groups and all those involved in the social enterprise sector. We hope that we have delivered a good service and you have enjoyed working with us.

Community Investment Tax Relief (CITR) was adopted to persuade private investment to boost areas known to suffer fiscal difficulties helping local businesses such as solicitors in Hampshire amongst others situated in an uncertain local economic environment.

The Social Investment Task Force (SITF) created their report and recommendations to ensure businesses in low investment areas could grow. Sales of Lunar caravans have risen due to the placement of this program developed to enterprise communities and the surrounding area has therefore reaped the benefits economically.

In money crisis times like these it is a good idea to save where you can. The best thing is to look at your mortgage and then go to a website and see some Buying a new house .This is simply the best way to find good mortgage rates.Business mortgage rates is something total different witch we will explain more about later.

Now say you need a way to pay for your gas turbines, Christmas ornaments, or your mortgage. One of the best solutions available to you, is a credit card. Enterprising Communities and www.creditcardsinstantdecision.co.uk are now working together to offer you the best credit card rates with instant decisions. No more waiting weeks to get an acceptance letter in the mail. We want to approve you today!

The UK business community especially importers and exporters are finding 2009 to be a rather challenging year. This is due to the very poor value of the GB pound against the single currency The Euro. Best exchange rates when importing or exporting can be found using a broker rather than just paying for goods overseas using your bank, this can make or break your bottom line due to the horrendous fluctuations in rates.

Handling the financial department with regards to funding and sponsorship management of the Cumbria project is expert financial advisers David Burnell based in Nottingham and a Financial Advisor Nottingham of the most respected kind. Financial advice can be given in many different forms such as investments, mortgages, life assurance, critical injury cover and more and offshore investments.

A business start up is an extremely stressful time for the owner and the business itself. One factor which business start ups can find difficult, is the ability to find finance. Jokingly contesting a last will testament can often seem like the last option when looking for initial financing. Enterprising communities suggest that you compile a detailed business plan and visit you local banks to discuss finance.

A social enterprise is a business with the aim of reinvesting surpluses within the community. If you have any further questions regarding our program after reading our site please contact us on our 0800 number or via email.

Many people do not realize that the PCI deadline is upon us and from July the 1st 2010 merchants are required to be PCI compliant. This is a small nightmare for small businesses who haven't the in house expertise to fulfill the stringent regulations

Voluntary Action Cumbria is currently seeking funding to maintain a service to facilitate enterprise development through signposting community and social enterprises to sources of information, advice and funding.

In the meanwhile, three members of the Enterprising Communities (Bill, Howard & Viv) team have set up their own social enterprise secod (social enterprise and cooperative development ltd) to continue offering specialised support to emerging and existing social enterprises in Cumbria.

We are currently undertaking a robust evaluation of our work which will draw out and consolidate our evidence-based learning. We plan to post this learning on an attractive, creative, innovative and challenging website open to all. We want to see our ideas, approaches, learning, case studies and the tools we have developed widely used. We will alert you when the website is ready.

Please continue to check the Enterprising Communities website www.enterprisingcommunities.org.uk and the Cumbria Social Enterprise Partnership website www.socialenterpriseincumbria.org for information on what's going on in the social enterprise sector in Cumbria.

With very best wishes,

Anne, Bill, Cath, Dani, Howard, Quentin, Rose and Viv
